Matt’s Money Makers: Cheltenham Day 2 November 15

After 2 winners at (Evens & 4/1) plus an 11/8 second, here are today’s tips to follow suit.

Today’s card is one to watch and place bets prior to races due to the weather possibly changing the going. However if the going stays at soft, these are my selections.

1:15 – Cheltenham Club Novices Chase

Kings Palace makes his chasing debut following a successful campaign over hurdles. He fell at the last in the Albert Bartlett, but looked well beaten. Prior to that start he had won four of his six starts. Creepy (9/2) was second behind Kings Palace at this track in October last year. Today he can reverse this form due to the fact he has chasing experience. In his one run over these obstacles last time out he was eased to victory in impressive fashion. Sausalito Sunrise was a comfortable winner on his chasing debut at Chepstow in what was in all honesty a weak field.

2:30 – Paddy Power Gold Cup Chase

An enticing renewal of this race and one that is quite open. Johns Spirit (10/1) each-way won here last time out on his seasonal reappearance and tends to run well at Cheltenham. The soft ground shouldn’t be a problem, however if there was overnight rain it may be problematic. Overnight rain and heavy ground wouldn’t be a problem for Evan Williams trained Buywise, who is currently joint favourite in the market with Present View, both horses have the stamina, which will be useful on the testing ground. Oscar Whisky is another threat to Johns Spirit after a good year last season, if he can recapture that from fresh he will be one to challenge with good performances on this track. The ground could play into Kapga De Cerisy for the Venetia Williams yard, but he may have to improve on past efforts.

Johns Spirit/Buywise singles plus reverse forecast

4:05 – Jockey Club Venues Mares’ Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race

Warren Greatrex is always a trainer to watch in these races and for this card closer he is double pronged with Caitys Joy and Miss Estela (9/2). The soft ground won’t be a problem for this filly; whose won both of her starts over 2m1f in big fields. Plus it maybe telling that stable jockey Gavin Sheehan prefers Miss Estela to Caitys Joy, who herself won on her debut. Willie Mullins Daring Carlotta is unbeaten in three, but those starts came on quicker ground, which could be a concern. Bitofapuzzle could also run a good race after beating Tara Mist last time out, who has gone on to be beaten by Avispa, who could be a useful prospect.

Away from Cheltenham

1:05 – Uttoxeter

Zeroshadesofgrey looks likely to win this weak maid hurdle.
2:50 – Uttoxeter

Finding Your Feet for Jonjo O’Neill drops back in trip and this Novice Chase looks perfect for his chasing debut as he has the stamina to boot in testing conditions.

Good luck with your bets!
