Horse Racing: Today’s summary from John Mitchell 31/07/14

It took me a couple of days , and more than just a couple of pounds, but I've finally got the hanoof Galway.

Every track has its quirks and individuality and you have to watch and learn. It paid off today very nicely It's always good to have a decent bet in a decent class event and this was the case with Dalkova. She is in form and has a pretty high rating but significantly she had a low draw, which I've learned is essential at Galway and also she was the only front runner.

She actually stays further thanthe 7 furlong trip and I was confident that she would control the race and kick for glory and that's exactly what she did at 10/1 (adv) I was with Rawnaq in the Galway hurdle and he ran very well for a long way but Paul Townsend had him on the outside of the field , so God knows how much further he ran than those on the rails. His effort petered out near the end but he is certainly capable of lifting a big prize off his curren handicap mark I had the 5.35 Galway down to a two horse race from a field of 17 !

I wasn't far out at all with Ridestan leading all the way for an easy win and Pirate Cove finishing very strongly from a long way back failing to snatch 2nd by only a short head . The rev F/c would have pais around 9/1, and you couldn't come any closer. I tipped up Jungle Cat as an ew bet to nothing in the Richmond Stakes. I had slight doubts about the hot pot fav, but Ivawood must be the best 2yo around as he slaughtered the opposition , but Junglee cat made the frame and we made a little I recommended total stakes of 8pts and the returns are 16.6 pts . A profit of over 100%

I only play small (new baby in the household) but ended up being £3.80 up with an outlay of just 60p on the day backing jungle cat and dalkova, shame the big tip on the last race didn’t make it but so close! Keep up the great work.
