Without a blocked nose and dosed up on Lemsip, I would’ve predicted wins for Wolfsburg, Bournemouth, Dep La Coruna and Bologna! Ha-ha. Friday night was a great night for the bookies and the poor punter would’ve been left out of pocket as Bayern Munich were stuffed 4-1 and Watford V Bournemouth failed to provide the goal fest it threatened. Overall, it was one win out of four, which is pretty dire.
SPORT TIPSTER £1 BTTS&WIN: Liverpool, Ipswich, Bradford and Stevenage 346/1 BWIN or 256/1 with Coral
LIVERPOOL and WEST HAM should provide the punters with an afternoon of excitement as I’m tipping this game to see at least three match goals. The good news is that Daniel STURRIDGE has returned and it is quite plausible he may form an excellent partnership with Mario B. Bookies are quite wary of this game going over 2.5 Match Goals but I’m not prepared to accept 3/4 so I’m going to take Liverpool on the BTTS&WIN market. They are just 5/2 for this to happen but I can see them sending West Ham back to East London empty handed. Andy CARROLL’S comments will have fired Brendan Rogers up, so anticipate an exciting afternoon at Anfield. He is 9/1 to score first (general).
In the Championship it is IPSWICH and BRIGHTON for me. Oliver WALKER said “WIGAN ARE DROSS” and I have to agree with him. Ipswich are without Daryl Murphy but Freddie SEARS replaces him and I’m tipping the former West Ham man to hit the back of the net. The 25 year old has 40 League and Cup goals to his name since starting out at West Ham in 2007-08. He scored ten goals this year for Essex side Colchester and I expect he will want to prove he is more than an adequate at this level. Ipswich have won 8 out of their 13 games at home this season. Ipswich are 4/5 for the win and Freddie is 6/1 to bag the opener. I’m quite tempted to select Ipswich for a BTTS&WIN but I’m not sure if Wigan will score. Shaun Maloney, Ben Watson, Adam Forshaw, Callum McManaman and Ivan Ramis have all departed Wigan in the past week so the team may look a bit thread bare.
Brighton should have too much for Blackpool. As we all know Blackpool got stuffed 7-2 against Watford last weekend. Brighton played pretty well against Arsenal and I can see them leaving the North West with three points.
In League One I like the look of SCUNTHORPE and ROCHDALE but it is Keith Hill’s side who get my selection. They travel to Coventry City who are probably one the worst teams in the division at the moment. Rochdale have won 7 games away from Spotland this season which is the joint second best in the league. Ian Henderson has 12 League Goals to his name this year. You can pick up 7/4 on Rochdale scoring 2 goals or take them at 19/10 for the win. Pacy striker Dominic SAMUEL has signed on loan from Reading this week and he could start for Coventry. I think it is last chance saloon for the London born striker and needs to make an impression in the Midlands if he is to be retained by the Berkshire based club.
If I was looking for a winner then I would select BRADFORD at 4/5. They beat Chelsea 4-2 last weekend and looking at the team news they are at full strength for the visit of Colchester. Attacking Midfielder Billy KNOTT is always sniffing around the goalmouth and he is 8/1 (general) to break the deadlock today. He has hit four goals since December 28th and he is an outside chance to net against Colchester today.
SCUNTHORPE travel to Leyton Orient who are very hit and miss and they can be picked up at 10/3 for the win. It is worth considering Draw No Bet or Mark Robin’s men on the Double Chance.
In League Two STEVENAGE are my pick to beat Oxford today. Graham WESTLEY’S men have taken 13 from a possible 18 points and are a standout 13/10 to beat Oxford. Oxford Striker Danny HYLTON said: “It’s a game you know you’re going to have to be up for, because if you’re not, they will eat you alive. “They’re always a tough team to play, especially with their manager. “He gets them fired up and it’s going to be like a war zone on the pitch. “We’ve just got to make sure we win the battle first, because that’s what it’s going to be.”
BURTON are at home to Bury in a crunch League Two Game today. Jimmy Floyd has purchased Abdenasser El Khayati from Holland so it’ll be interesting to see how he gets on today. He has hit 12 goals in 17 games for a Dutch amateur side this season, 10 of those in his last 10 games. He is 23/10 to score at anytime today.
